Invitation rights for A Small World, wow!
Today I got invitation rights for a small world. The super secretive and high end social network. It is funny that something stupid like this actually made me feel happy for 5 seconds.
This is what they wrote:
“You have been chosen to receive special invitation privileges on ASMALLWORLD. Only a limited number of ASW members have these privileges and we are entrusting you to thoughtfully grow and further improve the ASW community.
The selection process involves many variables including geographic location, prior invitations, your activity, the composition and balance of your network, and completeness of your profile. We use these criteria to ensure that ASW members represent the most relevant, interesting and well-informed community on the Internet. It also ensures that the network is balanced in terms of geography, interests, tastes and perspectives.”
And they close the invitation with:
This right is not permanent and is subject to change at any time.
I heard a story that if you blog about asmallworld, you’ll loose all your rights and they might even delete your account. So I thought I give it a try

@edie if you like to widen your horizon I would recommend facebook or hyves (depending on where you’re based).

Hello, I suggest you to ask your friends for an invitatiom, I’m sure nobody would invite people who doen’t know. You waste your time asking and asking, I’m on asmallworld, I’ve many friends there, but if you know just one or two people why you wanna join it? I think facebook is better for you.

I think it’s hilarious that the exclusivity of ASW broods a want for an invite, when the fact of the matter is it’s just another marketing avenue for a real estate mogul to make money.
People don’t see through that, and feel basking in the glow of those that were invited to begin with will help alleviate the advertising woes of yet another miniature MySpace.

ASW or a small world is a ‘wank’ and shallow…it is not an effective social networking site.
A lot of my connections and friends dont even use it - as it is a pain and a tired platofrm - POOR usability.
Basically they tried to create something of substance…the truth is it is a front to generate advertising revenue and an excuse for the ‘born-with-a-silver-spoon-in-your-mouth’ owners to inflate their superiority and social standing (err…egos!) over their peers.
And when you are bounced off or resigned from a small world, they NEVER delete one’s details as they use all members : active - current - past etc, to fool prospective advertisers of the ASW member base and how big it is.
I’ve been on asw and it is a joke…really nothing special! So dont be a wannabe…be real and be you.

The selection process is based on a variety of criteria that ensures the community is balanced in terms of geography, interests, tastes and perspectives.
