Ruud Gullit in Silicon Valley?

Let me introduce you to Ruud. Ruud is the rabbit of Marten Mickos (CEO MySQL) We we’re having dinner with him and his wife told a funny story about their rabbit. Annika (Marten’s wife) is a sports fan and she’s a fan of Ruud Gullit (the dutch soccer player). She wanted to name their rabbit Gullit, but that sounded to much like Gulle (or something like that), which means something strange in Finnish, so they end up with just Ruud.

Wouldn’t Ruud be honored?

P.S. A funny detail was that Ruud Gullit actually plays in the team with Igor (one of the guys), so Ruud will for sure find out :)

Just wanted to fill up with the details about Ruddes name. The word GULLIG means very sweet in Swedish, and we thought our rabbit was the sweetest thing when we got him. I always remembered Ruud Gullit as one of the greatest soccer players, and his name was on my mind instantly when whe suddenly had a GULLIG creature in the family. SO, Rudde’s first name had to resemble the name of RUUDS, and we rabbitified it into Rudde (sorry about that Ruud). Today, Rudde is a five-year-old Netherland Dwarf rabbit gentleman, living in Silicon Valley. And he has a great name!! Thank you Ruud!

One more comment – thank you Ruud Gullit for inspiring a whole world of soccer players and we especially thank you for giving our Dutch rabbit the best name we could ever think of!

Here is a Rudde update – he is alive and well, now in his old age, 7,5 years old. He is the greatest companion and lives up to his name – very athletic!
